Dawn M. Sciarrino is the Managing Member of Sciarrino & Shubert, PLLC. She has been engaged in the private practice of communications, media and broadcast law since 1990. Ms. Sciarrino has particular experience in broadcast regulation, political advertising, multiple ownership and broadcast transactions. She represents broadcasters – large and small – including state broadcasters’ associations, local broadcasters, non-commercial broadcasters and publicly traded companies alike.
Ms. Sciarrino is admitted to practice law in Tennessee, the District of Columbia, New York and Virginia. She is also admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit. She is an associate member of the Association of Federal Communications Consulting Engineers and is a member of the Federal Communications Bar Association, the Tennessee Bar Association, the New York State Bar Association, the Virginia State Bar, and the District of Columbia Bar. She is also a member of the Media Financial Management Association (MFM), and a former member of its’ Board of Directors.
Ms. Sciarrino is a frequent presenter at media trade events such as the National Association of Broadcasters (“NAB”) Convention, NAB Radio Show, state broadcast association meetings nationwide and the NAB Education Foundation Broadcast Leadership Training Program. Ms. Sciarrino is the recipient of MFM’s “Working Capital Award” for dedicated contribution to the education of the Association’s membership and the Sully District of the National Capital Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America’s “Unit Scouter Award.” A distinguished authority on political broadcasting regulation, in the mid-1990’s Ms. Sciarrino was a nationally recognized political consultant and was awarded a “Polly” by the American Association of Political Consultants for the best radio advertisement in a congressional campaign.
Ms. Sciarrino is a graduate of Ithaca College (B.A. History 1985) and the Columbus School of Law at the Catholic University of America (J.D. 1990), where she was a member of the Institute for Communications Law Studies. Ms. Sciarrino also clerked in the Fairness/Political Programming Branch of the Mass Media Bureau at the Federal Communications Commission, and is a graduate of the American Campaign Academy. Prior to her legal career she was also a press secretary, campaign advisor, assistant media buyer and Congressional Page.
